2016 was a doozie

I teach, but can select the semesters that I teach. I elect to teach summer and fall, taking spring term off. During this time (the only temperate time in FL) I do home improvement projects and the occasional card. Usually I can take an our a week to make a card. That was not available this year, so what follows are some of my 2016 production.
a friend is the niece of the author Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird). I made this for her on the occasion of Harper's death.
This was for a friend who was ill using House mouse images

This was  CASE of a Sandy Allnock card watercolor using Avery Elle's Hello Chum set.

RAK card redesign

I had made a series of cards with the flying pig angel motif in honor of my brother Pat. It involved cutting several pieces and assembly until I realized that I could make a stamp for the angel wings and halo. The embossing powders are easy to apply, and glittering is much easier.
I love that I can use my Silhouette to cut stamping material to make the wings and halo!
This is the current iteration. Included in every RAK gift that I send out, to honor a kind and generous man who died too soon.

RAK and cards and stuff

The little shop where I used to sell my cards has changed format. Once a mail room and gift shop, it is now a dollar store that sells lotto tickets. In the past 3 months over 30 cards were stolen from my card rack. Soooooo, I have removed the rack from the store. It's ok, the demographic has changed and I didn't expect that my cards would do well, but seriously.
So what to do with the remaining cards? Well, I have been purging my craft room- selling on eBay those more expensive things that I no longer use, and giving away others. Honestly, it is more about destashing than making money.
Into each of the packages, I include a card. Cards made for friends or family are personal, but those on sale were more generic. It just makes me happy to see a little of my art travelling around the country. I hope that it brings my recipient a smile.
That said, not much time spent on making new cards, until tonight. I gave away some stamps on a Facebook group. I was out of generic cards, so I made a new one in honor of the Valentine season. I may make others because I like the look. I was inspired by someone in the facebook group.
The sentiment is from Gina K Designs. and the dies cut? Cant find it. Let me know if you recognize it. I thought it was Memory box, but cant find it there. I cut a couple of repeats and used as many as would fit on the card, I like how it turned out!

Amanda's Birthday

I made this for Amanda's birthday season. I hardly ever get cards in the mail on time, but that;s another story. She and I are huge fans of Moroccan and Indian motifs, so I thought she would like this.
I first used the reverse (matte) side of aluminum foil that I had glued to a piece of cardstock. I ran the sandwich through the Bigshot using the Moroccan Set embossing folder from Sizzix. I ran a bit of sponge and black acrylic paint to give it an aged look. Then, I colored highlights of the image with my copic and Bic Mark-It pens. (I have done this with mirrored cardstock before, but the alcohol distressed the surface. No problems with the aluminum foil, and MUCH cheaper.

Finally, I stamped the African elephant image from PSX (ca. 1991 sorry folks!) Then, I decorated the elephant and popped it up as the focal point. I was really pleased with the result. What do you think?!

My husband's friend is recovering from a fall from his roof. Honestly, my husband said that this wouldn't be offensive. We did wait til he got home from the hospital to send it, though. :) Tree is KSS, and sentiment is from a Silhouette file.
House is a Memory Box Die. and the rest was improvised.

Inspired by a card from Pinterest. I googled my husband's family tartan and printed it to make it personal to him. Sentiment is from Fiskars, Just so that you know, as a true Scot, there is nothing under the kilt.

Triple Time Stamping from IO stamp.

Stickers are from Magenta. This was a diamond fold card, made mostly to emphasize texture. The recipient is 108 and has very poor eyesight, so I try to emphasize contrast colors and texture. Spellbinders Fleur de lis squares die.

One of my students became a new dad. This was for his family, a diorama card using Sweet Shoppe Stamps Nesting Set.

I have two friends who had leg surgery the same week. I made them each a card using House Mouse Images.

The image here was from an old roller stamp that I unmounted and mounted on ezmount. I love the stamp now! I created the Sentment cut file  in my Silhouette.

Tim HOltz again. I REALLLLLLLY love this set. I used some of his  accessories as well.

I was tasked with making cards for our deparmental gift baskets. I created the silhouette cut file that is a 3-D popup turkey. The cover imge was made using a brass stencil and pearl ex. The dp is from Gina K.

This year's Halloween cards for the nieces and nephews. Sure they are all above 25 now, but 2 have children and the rest will always be my babies :)
